Hometown Holiday Parade – Kennewick
Hometown Holiday Parade in downtown Kennewick is open to all dancers! Saturday, December 6, 2025. 8:00am – 12pm. We have a trailer for young dancers to ride on, fun dances for older dancers, and a flatbed trailer for the cloggers. All dancers on the float, dancers on the street, and walkers will wear a blue holiday cape for the parade.
We want ALL dancers, cloggers and their families to participate. Young dancers will sit on the trailer with side rails pulled by a pickup. Older dancers will walk /dance in the parade. We will teach a fun dance during class in the 2-3 weeks leading up to the parade. Dress warmly and come join the fun. Remember your Hats and gloves, Christmas hats & gloves welcome. We will wear our blue capes over our warm clothes. We will also play holiday music you can sing along with and wave to the crowd. Hand and foot warmers are good to wear inside gloves to keep extremities warm. WATER in spill proof containers is allowed. Be sure to put your name on it.
Cloggers will be on the Blue Lampson semi-truck. Beginning Cloggers are welcome to ride on the Lampson Trailer if they choose. Wear or bring MOSTLY WHITE Tennis shoes in case of inclement weather. Wear white turtleneck under your BLACK clogging t-shirt and Blue Clogging or Studio jackets. Plain Black pants (not leggings); hair side-parted and secured at the nape of the neck with a black hair band. Remember your lipstick, water, white gloves and Santa/holiday hats. Bring blue studio t-shirts in case we need to adjust. We will dance Sleigh Ride and want ALL cloggers on the float! Even if you do not know the routine, we still want you on the float!
Clogger Pro tip – wear wool nude or white wool socks under your tights. Wear any other white/tan/nude undergarments/thermal wear to stay warm.
Pro-tip – Use Hand and feet warmers in gloves and shoes.
SATURDAY MORNING:
8:00 am Arrival time to decorate the trucks & trailers. We will meet in Downtown Kennewick at the parade Staging Area. We are usually staged on Kennewick Ave between Dayton and Everett streets. Parking is located at the former Tri-City Herald building, Dayton and First, and Cascade and Fruitland (See Map Attached) We will receive final staging assignments the morning of the parade so look for the blue Lampson semi truck between Dayton and Everett streets.
PLEASE, we need help with decorating and loading/unloading sound equipment. We also need parent volunteers for many other activities for a successful parade. See the list below and RSVP to the cape email to volunteer.
8:30 am – Set dancers in formation and review parade dance
9:00 am Arrival time for young dancers riding on the float. We will meet at the truck and brief our volunteer walkers at this time.
Capes will be available for check out at 9:00 am. Please allow time to check out capes if you are borrowing one. We have cape kits available if you would like to customize your cape! Pick up cape kits by 7:30pm on Thursday, November 30th. Cape kits are $20, exact change appreciated.
9:15 am Group Photo in front of the floats! Then we take care of last-minute bathroom breaks, load up and get ready to get in line!
10:00 am: Parade Begins. All dancers must be on their floats or in place by this time.
End of Parade: we will meet back where we started to unload and undecorate. PLEASE STAY TO HELP WITH THIS AND HELP GET OUR PARADE SUPPLIES BACK TO THE STUDIO, many hands make this job go quickly. Street dancers will walk back to the staging area on a side street, do not follow the trucks which will take a longer route due to street closures.
Miss Wendy also NEEDS and greatly appreciates help back at the studio unloading the parade supplies from the dance van after the parade. Again, MANY hands make it light work. This takes 10-15 minutes with several people.
Volunteer List:
- Decorate small float
- Decorate clogger float
- Banner holders (2) – walk parade route
- 3-4 spotters to walk behind the dancers and in front of the semi truck throughout the parade
- 6 Candy throwers – these are actually spotters to ensure that kids do not run under the semi truck. Candy is thrown to the curb AWAY from our trucks/trailers
- 1-2 chaperones on the young dancer float
- 2 dancer chaperones (1 each side of the float) for water and health awareness
